How To: Reuse Your Candle Jar

Hey Everyone,

This is a post about reusing your old candle jars, because it would be such a shame to waste them! I've had a lot of good use out of my Vanilla Cupcake Yankee Candle but recently it has started smoking all the time and producing a lot of black smoke, so i decided that its finest hours were over!

Here is how you can reuse your old candle jar:

1. Take your old candle

2. Whilst the wax is still warm but not runny, take a spoon and dig around the edges of the candle and it should come away easily from the sides. Empty the candle contents into a plastic bag to save making a mess! You can keep the candle wax if you wish and burn it via a wax burner

3. Now you should be left with an empty jar that looks like it could do with a good clean!

4. Next, take off the candle sticker! Fill with hot soapy water and get washing, i used kitchen towel so as not to get it on my nice kitchen sponges! If you had quite a sooty candle like i did which left a lot of black residue, you can use a Brillo Pad with soap already on (I got mine from Poundland!) and it comes right off in a jiffy as does the excess wax - don't spend ages if it won't shift with water alone, get a brillo pad!

5. Ta-Dah! You should be left with a nice clean sparkly jar you can now re-use!

6. Here is my reused candle jar which has been put to great use as my makeup brush holder! Yay! Obviously you can use yours for whatever you want.

I hope you enjoyed my first How-To, lots of love and thanks for reading!

XOXO

  1. Great idea! What I do when the wick has burnt out and there's still lots of wax left is I break it all up and add it to my next candle so I don't waste any, and sometimes it creates new scents :)

  5. You can also do this by freezing the candle jar! The wax pops out easily!
